Rainbow Science!

Today we did a science experiment! We made a circle out of skittles and talked about what would happen if we put hot water in the middle.  The children observed how the water changed into rainbow colours. We timed that it took 78 seconds for the rainbow to be complete. The children talked about

What do they think would happen?
What did happen?
How did it change?
Why did it change? 
Would it be the same with cold water?
What would happen if the skittles were all the same colour?

We loved our experiment!
