Reading Books

Date: 27th Jan 2020 @ 2:18pm

All Nursery children have been sent home with their first reading books!

Your child has been sent home with a story book for you to read with them and a bookmark with some ideas of questions to ask them as you go along. Reading with your child regularly is very important and helps improve skills in many areas, not just reading.

At this age, it is important that they are building listening skills and can demonstrate that they understand what they are hearing.

Some of the children have been sent home with wordless reading books for them to 'read'. In these books, the children use their knowledge of the pictures and of how stories are structured to read the story themselves. Use the prompts on the bookmark for these also.

Every child has a set day, so please bring your child's book back on the day written on the front of their reading record.

If you have any questions, please come and ask one of the team.

Thank you

Mrs Musselle
