Nursery Rhyme Week - 1,2,3,4,5, A big ship sails and B.I.N.G.O

Date: 17th Nov 2022 @ 2:22pm

We have been continuing our fun for Nursery Rhyme Week this week!!

On Tuesday, we learnt 1,2,3,4,5 Once I caught a fish alive. After learning the song, we looked at different kinds of fish that live in the sea, ponds and rivers in our world. The children were fascinated by the different patterns and shapes of some of the more exotic fish!! We then designed our own fish using bubble wrap and paint to create a scales effect. In the water area, the children enjoyed using fishing rods to catch fish and ducks. There were only 2 fishing rods and the children were very excited so they had to really practise their patience and turn taking.

On Wednesday, we learnt a brand new Nursery Rhyme for us; The Big Ship Sails. Nursery were great at joining in with the actions. We looked at different kinds of boats and the children talked about where they might travel on some of the boats. Some of the class shared their experience of boats too. We read lots of pirate stories during the day and our favourite thing was the Pirate's Grog station. We mixed different ingredients to make Grog for the pirates - the smell was very distinctive!

We also learnt about floating and sinking on Wednesday. The class were really engaged and came up with some great ideas and predictions about floating and sinking.

'It's not big enough (to float)'

'It will float because she's light'

'She will go up'

'It swim!'

'I think it's going to sink beccause it's a little bit big'

'It will sink ebcause it a little bit small'

'It's going to be swimming. It will float aorund here'

Today (Thursday) we looked at B.I.N.G.O. Bingo was a farm dog so we learnt a bit about farms and the different roles the animals play. The children enjoyed looking at pictures of farm animals and sharing their experiences of visiting farms. We also talked about working dogs such as guide dogs and police dogs. The children enjoyed drawing dogs and giving them names.

Look below for some pictures. Tomorrow we will be looking at Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and Children in Need.
