Ice Ice Ice

Date: 1st Dec 2021 @ 6:51pm

This week we have noticed a change in the weather.....this led the children to want to explore ice. Mrs Munro nipped to the shop and got some ice for the children to explore in the messy play area and during science this week - we discussed what ice is made of / why ice melts and how it could melt quicker / how we could keep ice frozen / what happened to the ice when it was in our hands / where we find ice / how does the ice feel. It linked in nicely to our word of the week "chilly" too!

The ice promoted lots of language ......

"it has to be a very cold day to have ice"

"Put it in the freezer so it doesn't melt"

"it was so slippery"

"you could put it in the sun to melt it"

"the bigger one will take longer to melt"

"its melting because my hand is warm"

"ice is made of water"

"it's strong and hard"

"if it's hot it will melt the ice"

"it's hard like a rock"

"its cold and chilly"
