Class Buddies are children who are chosen by their peers to take responsibility for looking after children who may be on their own or feeling left out or upset at playtime and lunchtime breaks. Buddies try to find out what the problems are, and if they cannot sort it out they get an adult to help them deal with it.
Buddies also encourage children to make friendships and help them join in games together, they also help the senior lunchtime organiser to bring in equipment in after lunchtime break. Key Stage 2 Buddies are changed every half term this gives other children a chance to be chosen. When the existing buddies come to the end of their term they are given a treat such as a film and popcorn or some extra play and circle time games and activities.
Buddies wear a badge to let staff and pupils recognise their role.
